My boy Ty Nguyen “sniped” some BTS photos from the recent CCM flier shoot I did.. Was a fun fun day filled w/ sick cars, models and good people..

Here’s the making of the event flier if you missed it..

Awhile back I was fortunate enough to be present at one of CCM’s most epic photoshoot. Two of the industries sickest drifter, Nate and Spencer, was present. Big thanks to NOS Energy Drinks, Tony Walls, Richard Dzao, Lincoln Tech, and Curtis Garrison for a memorable weekend!

CCM14 Flier back on Flickr.Via Flickr:
Final Flier design for the rear of the CCM 14 flier. This shot was much safer than the front of the flyer as the cars were static and I concentrated more on composition and balance in the frame. The girls did their thing, and made my job really easy. I had 2 amazing cars to position and everything just took a life of it’s own.
Cup Cake Meet organization teamed up w/ NOS energy drinks to produce “NOS Energy Nights” and are going to benefit breast cancer research.. I was really honored because they seek what they consider strong photographers to come up w/ an original idea and put their spin on shooting a model w/ cars..
Strobist Info:
Promaster 300C - camera right 8.0 power shot through 36” octabox
Alien Bee B1600 - camera left 1/2 power shot through 24x36” softbox
I cross aimed the lights on the girls to give me a little more distance and direction
Check out the making of the shot here.. Brian Bozeman interviewed me and took behind the scenes video at the shoot.. vimeo.com/43082360

S3 Magazine - Alex Reyes Hyundai Genesis on Flickr.
Via Flickr: Had the amazing honor of shooting Alex Reyes’ gorgeous, freshly painted candy purple Hyundai Genesis for an upcoming feature in S3 magazine.. I’m pretty sure this is the lowest Gen on 20s in the US. This thing went on 3 wheels just to get into the shooting location and it wasn’t even an incline. Rocking -5.9 degrees camber, this thing looks BEASTLY from the rear. Just wanted to give you a little taste now.. Subscribe now to S3 Magazine, they’re running a $12 LIFETIME subscription sale right now (www.s3magstore.com/product/s3-subscription).. You’ll be able to catch both this feature and Nate Hamilton’s feature (also shot by me) in the next issue.. Strobist Info: Promaster 300C - camera left 1/4 power aimed at the front wheel shot bare Promaster 300C - camera left 1/2 power aimed at the rear wheel Balanced w/ the sun and CPL used.

Texas Finest Magazine - Rig of Mystique on Flickr.Via Flickr:
Ever wonder how those cover shots are made where the car looks like it’s going 100 mph, the background is all blurred but the car is perfectly sharp and the camera seems to be right off the ground?
Well join me in learning how by picking up the next issue of TexasFinest Mags at your local Walmart. I’ll be writing the first of a multi-part article on how to accomplish these shots.. SECRETS REVEALED.
Part 1 will include what to buy, pricing, why to buy it and where to get it. Part 2 will describe how to assemble everything, placement of the rig and how to get the shot. In part 3, I’ll go over the editing process and how to finish the shot.

CCM/NOS Energy Nights Flyer shot - Final Design on Flickr.Via Flickr:
Was privileged to conceptualize and shoot the flyer for the Cupcake Meet organization this time around. They teamed up w/ NOS energy drinks to produce “NOS Energy Nights” and are going to benefit breast cancer research.. I was really honored because they seek what they consider strong photographers to come up w/ an original idea and put their spin on shooting a model w/ cars.. My main focus was trying to do something that hasn’t been done before, I wanted motion in my shot. So I recruited my proam drifter friend Nate Hamilton to help me out and he drifted around the models while they shot eachother with super soakers.. Who wouldn’t like THAT idea right?
Here is the final design after the graphic designer got to it..
Strobist Info:

124/365 - Mastering my own power on Flickr.Via Flickr:

With great power comes great responsibility. ~ Stan Lee via Uncle Ben in Spiderman
You might laugh at the origin of the statement, but it’s absolutely true. I think people that even have limited power don’t really respect the responsibility that comes with it. I see it time and time again… People abusing the little power they have yet yearn for more.
I’m starting to quickly get my creative powers under control and learning to wield them in a more directed fashion. I can honestly say I FEEL stronger as a photographer.. I can feel the growth in my ability to problem solve issues as they arise and also more inclined to get EXACTLY what I’m after in post because I can see an idea from inception to completion.
This image is a perfect example.. This is the vision that was in my head. Before this project, I know I would have found a way to talk myself out of even trying this. This project has aided me in so many ways. It’s given me the creative outlet to just TRY..
There have been so many stages that have helped me get to this point. Desire and diligence being a couple of them for sure, but I must say the creative criticism, challenges and positive feedback that I’ve gotten from others have DEFINITELY been key ingredients in my desire to continue my project and keep trudging forward to get as good as I possibly can..
I want to thank all of those that have helped me along the way, and especially those that have given me an opportunity to work w/ you in any capacity.. I’ll only get better from here..
My power will continue to grow.. I’m “POWER HUNGRY”.. .
